In keeping with its tradition of supporting organizations promoting diversity and community outreach, the firm sponsored a table at the 34th Annual San Francisco La Raza Lawyers Association Noche de Gala 2005. Attending for Gordon & Rees were summer associates: Rosamaria Barajas (also a La Raza member and event volunteer), E. J. Kim, Jamie Pfitzer , Paula Kutansky-Brown, Christen Lee, and Heidi Kim and attorneys from a broad range of practice groups: Aris Evia (Construction/Environmental Tort), Gordon Endow (Business/IP), Juan Walker (Drug/Medical Device), Jodie Feusner (Health Care), and Mark Davis (Corporate/Securities). The evening's Honorees embodied La Raza's purposes and goals. Former Gordon & Rees Attorney, Victor Marquez, who left Gordon & Rees to become La Raza's General Counsel was one of the MC's for the event. Because of the strong support of Gordon & Rees and other prominent Bay Area law firms as evidenced by more than 250 attendees at the Gala, La Raza was able to announce that it would double its scholarship awards for the coming year.
