G&R  Hosts Diversity Event, “Making a Case For Women in the Legal Profession”

Women in the Legal ProfessionIn its second Diversity Roundtable Series, Gordon & Rees LLP hosted a successful event, “Making a Case for Women in the Legal Profession: A Call to Action,” on March 2, 2006 at the Park Hyatt in San Francisco, California.

Mercedes Colwin, managing partner of Gordon & Rees’ New York office and FOX News Commentator, moderated. The panelists included Dennis Herrera, San Francisco City Attorney; Julie Brush, Co-Founder and Partner of Solutus Legal Search; Pamela Lakey, Co-Founder and Partner of SSL Law Group; Christine Helwick, General Counsel for California State University; and Mary Doyle, General Counsel for Palm Inc.

Over 80 representatives from various Bay Area law firms, corporate counsel offices, law schools, and non-profit organizations attended and found the panel discussion valuable and insightful. The event discussed successful strategies to address work-life balance issues and to create solutions for the retention of women attorneys.

Karineh Khachatourian, a partner in the intellectual property group in Gordon & Rees’ San Francisco office, led the Diversity Committee in organizing this event.
