Gordon & Rees’ San Francisco Office Honored to Host United Way Event

Gordon & Rees’ San Francisco office was honored to host the Koko Campaign Kickoff for the United Way of the Bay Area (UWBA). The Koko Campaign is an effort by Bay Area general counsel to encourage law firms to participate in the UWBA and its program to reduce poverty in the Bay Area by 50 percent before 2020.

Gordon & Rees founding partner and philanthropist Stuart M. Gordon, who received the UWBA Legacy Tocqueville Award for his long-term commitment to the United Way, gave an inspiring talk. UWBA Executive VP Eric McDonnell, CEO Anne Wilson, and Gordon & Rees partner and longstanding UWBA Board Member Chuck Custer also addressed the gathering. The event was well attended by the general counsel from Wells Fargo, Bank of America, the University of California and the Warriors, among others. A rousing “rock, paper, scissors” competition among the participating law firms got the troops fired up for this year’s campaign.

Gordon & Rees has been involved in the Koko Challenge since its inception over 25 years ago and has been recognized as the Bay Area’s “Most Philanthropic Law Firm” by the United Way of the
Bay Area.

Gordon & Rees will once again compete for the Big Koko against
law firms in the Bay Area and expects to bring home the prize. More
importantly, however, the partners, associates and staff of Gordon
& Rees look forward to assisting in the efforts of the United Way of
the Bay Area to relieve poverty in our community.
