
William Rathbone is a partner and member of the firm’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring, and Creditor’s Rights practice group. Mr. Rathbone has received Martindale-Hubbell's highest rating (AV) for lawyering and professionalism.
Mr. Rathbone has been involved in more than 117 bankruptcy cases during his practice, in the Southern District of California. He has represented debtors-in-possession, chapter 11 and 7 trustees, litigation trustees, secured and unsecured buyers of distressed businesses and assets in bankruptcy cases throughout the United States. He also has significant experience in counseling clients on bankruptcy considerations related to business transactions.
Mr. Rathbone’s experience includes, among other areas, real estate (residential home developments), finance (subprime mortgages) manufacturing and construction. He has also represented plaintiffs and defendants in claims involving complex business litigation, real estate litigation, fraud litigation, employment litigation, complex trademark and copyright infringement litigation, and legal malpractice matters, some of which included extended jury trials.
