Kevin Whelan has joined Gordon & Rees as Senior Counsel and a member of the Environmental/Toxic Tort Group. Mr. Whelan will work from both the firm's San Diego and Orange County offices.
Mr. Whelan has served as trial counsel for numerous asbestos defendants and has been responsible for case strategy and litigation from responsive pleadings through trial and appeal.
In addition to his Environmental/Toxic Tort practice, Mr. Whelan has a broad background in insurance bad faith defense, business litigation, products liability and premises liability matters. He has been involved in trial practice for over twelve years, obtaining several defense verdicts, including verdicts on behalf of a national, top-three insurer against bad faith allegations and a national medical product manufacturer against claims for breach of contract, breach of warranty and fraud. He has resolved numerous matters prior to trial by way of motions for summary judgment, successful mediation or arbitration.
Mr. Whelan received his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law and earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is admitted to practice in California state courts, as well as the United States District Court, Central District of California.
