The Recorder Honors Gordon & Rees Partner Adam Sugarman as One of 50 California Lawyers on the Fast Track

Gordon & Rees partner Adam B. Sugarman of San Francisco has been recognized as a 2013 Lawyer on the Fast Track by The Recorder. According to the publication, the 50 California lawyers selected for the second annual Fast Track list stand out among their peers because of their “career achievements and leadership roles within their practice, organization or the larger community.”

Mr. Sugarman represents large corporations and small businesses alike, focusing his practice on a wide variety of human resources issues, including: employment-related litigation, executive compensation, workplace policies, strategic personnel decisions, disability accommodations, terminations, and equal opportunity concerns. Mr. Sugarman has specific experience advising start-up companies with initial human resources challenges. This includes crafting employment policies designed to maximize productivity, attract and retain talent, and foster innovation and growth. Mr. Sugarman also has experience assisting newly acquired businesses in revamping employment policies and procedures.

Mr. Sugarman serves as outside general counsel for a number of companies, advising Boards of Directors, executives, and management on legal and business matters, including mergers, acquisitions, venture capital, private equity funding, intellectual property, general risk management, and a broad spectrum of other corporate transactions. Mr. Sugarman also has a growing sports law practice that includes talent representation.

Mr. Sugarman oversees risk management for Gordon & Rees’s San Francisco office and he serves on several firm committees. He also is a contributing editor for The Rutter Group's California Practice Guide series, Civil Procedure Before Trial: Claims and Defenses, and he co-wrote the chapter on employment law.

To determine the Lawyers on the Fast Track list, The Recorder’s editors reviewed approximately 200 nominations from around the state. Only California lawyers who graduated from law school in 2003 or later were considered for the Fast Track recognition.

The newspaper will publish a special edition on June 24 that profiles the 50 honorees, who also will be feted at an awards gala at the Four Seasons in San Francisco on June 26.
