New York Partner Mercedes Colwin to Moderate Panel Discussion at PLUS International Conference

Gordon & Rees partner Mercedes Colwin will moderate a panel discussion at the 26th Annual PLUS International Conference.

On Nov. 5, Ms. Colwin -- managing partner of Gordon & Rees's New York City office -- will moderate the presentation titled “RU Looking at My Cookies? Sexual Harassment in the Age of Technology,” from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Ms. Colwin and the panel will address policies and procedures to help employers ensure that employees’ use of mobile devices and social media in the workplace does not lead to sexual harassment litigation.

The 2013 PLUS International Conference, “Uncharted Waters of Emerging Risk: Knowledge Is Power,” will be held Nov. 4-6 at the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton at Grande Lakes in Orlando. Speakers will discuss and debate new risks and unprecedented exposures facing the professional liability industry. 

Ms. Colwin is a leading U.S. trial lawyer with 48 cases successfully tried to verdict. She is a legal analyst on the Fox News Network, where she regularly appears to discuss legal issues involving high-profile matters. Ms. Colwin represents corporate executives and Fortune 500 clients who rely on her and her team of attorneys and experts to handle high-stakes legal matters. She recently served as co-chair for the American Conference Institute’s 19th National Employment Practices Liability Insurance Conference, where she gave the opening remarks and moderated several panel discussions that covered key information for brokers, carriers, and in-house labor and employment counsel. Ms. Colwin also was selected as vice chair of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel’s Employment Section for 2012-2013.

Ms. Colwin has been a panelist at many PLUS symposia, discussing EPLI litigation and the EEOC at the November 2012 Plus International Conference and perspectives on success in the workplace at the September 2012 PLUS Southern California Women's Leadership Event.

Ms. Colwin has received numerous national recognitions, including Notre Dame Law School’s prestigious annual Graciela Olivarez Award. Forbes Business American Airlines also named Ms. Colwin one of the six most influential women in America, an honor she shares with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who also will speak at the November PLUS International Conference.
