Gregory Brunton Joins Gordon & Rees; Firm Expands Ohio Presence with Cincinnati and Cleveland Offices

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani continues its growth in Ohio with the expansion of its existing Columbus office and the addition of offices located in Cincinnati and Cleveland. Gregory D. Brunton has joined the firm as the co-managing partner of the Columbus office and will also serve as the Cincinnati office managing partner and the co-office managing partner for the Cleveland office. The two new offices bring Gordon & Rees’s office count to three in Ohio and to 43 nationwide.

Brunton brings more than 25 years experience as an accomplished litigator whose expertise ranges from professional negligence, to complex business and commercial litigation, to matters involving land use and eminent domain. He dedicates a substantial portion of his practice to defending professional negligence claims involving attorneys, accountants, architects and engineers. He also focuses his practice on issues of land acquisition, oil & gas leasing, Dormant Mineral Act litigation, land use, and other disputes regarding oil & gas leasing rights. Brunton will join Gordon & Rees's Energy, Commercial Litigation and Professional Liability practice groups.

“We are very pleased to have Greg join Gordon & Rees,” said S. Manoj Jegasothy, managing partner of the firm's Pittsburgh office and co-managing partner of the firm's Columbus, Cleveland, Harrisburg and Wheeling offices. “He has a depth of knowledge of laws impacting business in Ohio and will be an asset in meeting the legal needs of our clients in the region. Greg's skills and experience will be key as we expand our firm's presence in the Midwest."

Brunton has argued cases in the Ohio Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington D.C., the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and state appellate courts throughout Ohio. He has served as lead attorney on a major Marathon Pipeline project that extended from Kentucky through central Ohio. He also was lead counsel for the Rockies Express Pipeline Project which involved a major, multi-billion dollar pipeline project extending from Colorado through Ohio across hundreds of landowners. In addition, some of Brunton's more notable successes include a defense jury verdict on behalf of a major law firm involving the handling of a class action lawsuit, successfully defending an intellectual property law firm at the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and defending a creditor rights law firm in a class action.

Joining Brunton are senior counsel Daniel Hyzak and associate Bruce Moore. Hyzak focuses his legal practice on a wide variety of areas including business and commercial litigation as well as matters involving oil and natural gas, land use and energy. Moore's legal practice focuses on oil & gas, real property, and commercial litigation.

The opening of the Cincinnati and Cleveland offices is a continuation of the firm's nationwide expansion and strategic placement of offices throughout the United States. The Ohio offices are equipped with skilled attorneys who are able to handle a wide range of legal issues spanning across multiple practice groups including commercial litigation, employment, energy, healthcare, products liability, professional liability, toxic tort, insurance coverage, antitrust, class action and construction litigation.
