In litigated disputes, we are a recognized leader in handling complex trials, class actions and appeals. For example, we recently prevailed in separate multi-month long trials for one of the nation's largest cities in a waterfront property dispute, and for a manufacturing client wrongfully accused of ground water contamination. We also successfully tried a string of intellectual property cases throughout California on issues ranging from alleged patent and trademark infringement to licensing agreement violations. Our trial attorneys regularly handle cases addressing cutting-edge legal developments.

Our San Diego corporate attorneys have a similar depth of experience, counseling publicly traded and private clients in mergers, acquisitions and financings, and advising boards of directors on governance issues. Our real estate attorneys, who represent the vast majority of the commercial property owners in San Diego, have advised clients on hundreds of millions of dollars in transactions over the last 10 years. We also serve as employment and labor counsel for many of the region's leading employers, advising them on avoiding the many pitfalls in dealing with difficult HR issues, and defending them from wage and hour claims, as well as claims of discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination.

The San Diego office opened with two attorneys in 1990, and has more than tripled in size during the last 10 years due to our focus on client satisfaction. In 2010, 18 of our resident attorneys were recognized as "Super Lawyers" by Law & Politics, as well as four attorneys receiving "Top Attorney" recognition by The Daily Transcript. Additionally this year, the San Diego office was named one of the city’s “Best Places to Work” by the San Diego Business Journal. Our San Diego office also provides clients with attorneys who have unique insight from various in-house positions they held prior to entering the private practice of law including a former SEC staff attorney, Acting Deputy District Attorney in the San Diego District Attorneys North County Office, General Counsel of a media network company, General Counsel of a real estate development firm, General Counsel of a U.S.-owned/Hong Kong-headquartered toy company, in-house patent counsel at General Dynamics, in-house litigation attorney for a public utility, and counsel to the multi-employer bargaining representative of the motion picture and television studios, as well as a former OSHA compliance officer, investigator for the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and mediator for the EEOC.

Recognizing the importance of identifying and responding to community needs, our San Diego attorneys provide significant pro bono services to a variety of local charitable organizations. Attorneys in our San Diego office donate their time to a wide range of pro bono matters, handling cases referred by such organizations as the Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, Legal Aid Society of San Diego, and Casa Cornelia Law Center. In 2010, three of our attorneys received the California State Bar's Wiley W. Manuel Award and one of our attorneys received the Legal Aid Society of San Diego's Outstanding Service Award for their pro bono legal services in 2009-2010.
