Gordon & Rees was founded in San Francisco in 1974 and the firm's first office has rapidly grown to more than 120 lawyers. What began as a small insurance defense law firm has become the 10th largest law firm in San Francisco and the 13th largest in the state of California. Today, the office is recognized as having premier practices in Insurance, Construction, Employment, Health Care, Drug & Medical Device, Environmental/Toxic Tort, Commercial Litigation, Tort & Product Liability, and Business Transactions.
In the heart of San Francisco’s business district, Gordon & Rees has been a strong presence in the city’s legal and business community for 35 years. We are privileged to serve the legal needs of local, regional, national and international corporations, as well as entrepreneurs, business owners, and government entities. Our San Francisco lawyers and practices have garnered awards from numerous prestigious organizations and publications, including Chambers USA, California Lawyer, GC California, Who’s Who Legal (California, America, International, and World editions), and Super Lawyers.
Many of our San Francisco lawyers serve in leadership positions in legal organizations and client industry associations, including the Defense Research Institute, Professional Liability Underwriting Association, Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, International Association of Defense Counsel, Building Owners and Managers Association, Excess/Surplus Lines Claims Association, National Foundation for Judicial Excellence, San Francisco Women Lawyers Alliance, California Women Lawyers, and the Food & Drug Law Institute.
Over and above the practice of law, the San Francisco office is deeply committed to giving back to the community. We are proud to have been named the Bay Area’s “Most Philanthropic Law Firm” by United Way, and many of our lawyers are members of the Boards of organizations such as “First Graduate” and “Under One Roof.”
