On November 16 and December 6, 2012, San Francisco partner Don Willenburg will present to two bar groups on issues relevant to most attorneys: attorney fees and settlements.

“Attorney Fees, Please” will discuss California Civil Code section 1717 and contractual attorney fee awards.  The panel includes Prof. Gary Watt (Hastings) and Associate Justice Mark Simons.  Contra Costa Bar Association MCLE Extravaganza, November 16, 2012.  For more information on this event, please click here.

“Disappearing Dollars: How Section 998 Offers Can Make Or Break Your Case.”  California Code of Civil Procedure section 998 can make the net result of an apparently favorable judgment a victory for the “losing” party.  This is an updated version of a presentation given several times with Prof. Watt.  Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada Annual Meeting, December 6, 2012.  For more information on this event, please click here.  Mr. Willenburg is chair of the amicus briefs committee of this organization, and has authored multiple amicus briefs and other filings in support of defense positions over the past few years.

Mr. Willenburg also moderated a panel earlier this month on appellate e-filing in California’s First District Court of Appeal.  The panel included both a First District justice and the District’s clerk/administrator.
