Gordon & Rees Partner Joseph Sacher Featured Panelist at The Ninth Annual Ethics Seminar - Moral Courage in Action

On November 6 Miami Partner Joseph Sacher was a featured panelist at the "Ninth Annual Ethics Seminar: Moral Courage in Action" in Boca Raton, Florida, where he was one of three attorneys providing a legal perspective on whistleblower laws, including the Regional Director of the Miami Office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Inspector General for Broward County, Florida.

The day-long event was sponsored by the Palm Beach Planning Congress, Florida Atlantic University School of Urban and Regional Planning, Nova Southeastern University H. Wayne Huzienga College of Business and Entrepreneurship, American Society of Landscape Architects, Florida Association of Code Enforcement, and The Environmental & Land Use Law and City County & Local Government Sections of The Florida Bar, among others.

Sacher’s presentation focused on the origin of whistleblower laws, including the financial frauds in the early 2000’s that lead to the creation of The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the differences between the private and public provisions of Florida’s Whistleblower Act, and best practices when dealing with whistleblower issues.
