Alexander Saksen is a partner in the firm’s Pittsburgh office. He also serves as a Director of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group for the Eastern Region. During his 19 year career, Mr. Saksen has successfully tried over 40 commercial, product liability, technology, toxic tort and civil cases to verdict in Pennsylvania and Maine state and federal courts, representing large national financial institutions, technology companies, computer data storage companies, Fortune 500 companies, local banks, and natural resource companies. Amongst those are a series of victories for financial institutions in commercial/residential foreclosure cases as well as securities actions.  He has also arbitrated a data breach dispute successfully for a Silicon Valley company.  With that experience, he has also resolved several data security matters through pretrial mediation and neutral evaluation.   He has successfully handled several appeals for the same clients, arguing before both the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court and Maine Supreme Court. In addition, Mr. Saksen successfully arbitrated claims for financial institutions before arbitration panels convened by the NASD, FINRA, and the American Arbitration Association.
Mr. Saksen also handles a number of product liability and personal injury matters for several construction companies throughout the country. In the past Alex has represented elevator companies, large manufacturing organizations, light manufacturing, and personal care products companies in connection with products liability and toxic tort litigation. He also currently represents a Fortune 500 company in various products liability actions throughout the country. In this practice, Mr. Saksen managed multi-state asbestos cases through trial and verdict in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Washington, Iowa, and Arizona.  His product liability experience ranges from personal consumption products to large mechanical manufacturing components.
In addition to his commercial experience, Alex handles employment matters in federal courts and before administrative agencies. He represented various companies attempting to enforce restrictive covenants, and obtained injunctions for employee violations of the same in federal court. He has also utilized the courts to protect clients’ trade secrets from being disbursed by former employees. On the administrative front, Mr. Saksen regularly appears before state and federal employment agencies in Pennsylvania and Maine in all manner of employment discrimination and harassment lawsuits. Recently, he obtained victories for a food service company, security company, and a Fortune 500 product supply entity before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Mr. Saksen spent seven years practicing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before moving to Maine, where he practiced for five years. Similar to his career before joining the firm, Alex presently focuses on representing clients in various industries with all manner of commercial, civil, and employment cases with a particular attention to representing financial institutions.
