Andrew Schindler is a litigation associate in the Miami office of Gordon & Rees. His practice focuses on the areas of class actions, insurance, tort & product liability, employment law, construction defects, and commercial litigation in state and federal courts. Mr. Schindler has substantial experience representing publicly traded and privately held companies in the defense of class actions in several areas. One notable recent success involved a class action in which Gordon & Rees was retained one month prior to trial; Mr. Schindler played an instrumental role in the decertification of the class one week before trial was to begin.
As a commercial litigator, Mr. Schindler urges early analysis of every lawsuit to weigh the costs and burden of benefits with the expected outcome to best assist clients with business solutions that fit the needs of each case. He gears his strategies to protect client relationships with others, their brand, and reputation. Mr. Schindler has stood by this principle in both the prosecution and defense of lawsuits. In matters of professional liability, he has represented professionals from various fields, including attorneys, civil engineers, environmental engineers, and architects. Mr. Schindler’s representation of professional clients places critical importance on vindication of any accused malpractice and preservation of the client’s business and reputation.
In the products liability context, Mr. Schindler has been involved in some of the early stages of e-cigarette and vaporizer defect litigation, which cases are some of the first in the country. He also represents substantial publicly traded companies in the defense of asbestos related claims.
Mr. Schindler was born and raised in South Florida and attended Florida International University where he earned his Bachelor of Business of Administration after completing a dual degree in both finance and management. Mr. Schindler earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. During his time at the University of Miami, he was a member of the Charles C. Papy, Jr. Moot Court Board, earning his position on the Board after winning first place in the 2014 John T. Gaubutz Moot Court Competition and thereafter served as the Board’s 2015-2016 Executive Vice President of Advanced Appellate Advocacy. Mr. Schindler subsequently secured a first place finish at the 2015 Emory law Civil Rights and Liberties Moot Court Competition. In addition to his Moot Court experience, Mr. Schindler was a member of the National Security and Armed Conflict Law Review whereupon he served as the Executive Managing Editor and had his article selected as one of five students notes for publication in the Law Review’s Volume V. Mr. Schindler also interned with the Honorable Kevin Emas at the Florida Third District Court of Appeal.
