David M. Rosenfield is Of Counsel based out of the Columbus office of Gordon & Rees and is a member of the Construction, Commercial Litigation and Energy practice groups. Mr. Rosenfield’s energy litigation experience includes representing large municipalities in varying matters relating to energy production, energy acquisition, and biomass power plants in disputes involving damages in excess of $100 million. In addition to his construction and energy experience, Mr. Rosenfield also has extensive experience in insurance coverage. His experience includes representing policyholders in resolving disputes concerning coverage under general liability, property, directors and officers, errors and omissions and kidnap and ransom insurance – among other types of coverage – by way of litigation, mediation and arbitration. Mr. Rosenfield’s representations range from large publicly traded Fortune 500 corporations to small to mid-market private companies covering industries as diverse as commercial banking, mortgage lending, aviation, horse breeding and health and fitness. In particular, for several years, Mr. Rosenfeld represented one of the largest commercial banks and mortgage lenders in the United States in pursuing coverage against numerous insurers for mortgage defaults in amounts exceeding several hundred million dollars.
Mr. Rosenfield’s commercial litigation experience also includes products liability, breach of contract and securities fraud and he is particularly skilled at contract drafting, interpretation and negotiation as well as in managing large discovery budgets and navigating large document review databases. Mr. Rosenfield also has several publications, both academic and practice-related.
Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Mr. Rosenfield was an Associate with Winston & Strawn in Chicago and with Reed Smith in Chicago and New York and also a law professor at an international university in Bangkok, Thailand.
