Todd is a commercial and insurance litigator, based in Birmingham, serving Gordon & Rees corporate and insurance clients in Alabama, across the Southeast, Midwest, and beyond. Todd represents clients across the spectrum, from multi-national corporations, to family-owned businesses, while working closely together with major insurers and third-party claim administrators. Todd practices in the areas of professional liability, insurance coverage, financial services, employment, cyber law, tort and product liability, transportation and general casualty litigation. For trucking and transportation claims, Todd is routinely retained to represent Gordon & Rees clients for lawsuits, claims and investigations in the Southeast.  As part of his employment practice, Todd has successfully handled a number of labor arbitrations across the South.  In connection with his professional liability practice, Todd has successfully represented clients defending cases involving property claims, breach of contract claims, contractual indemnity claims, real estate appraisers, and bad faith disputes. Todd’s practice further includes a discrete focus defending real-estate appraisers, nationwide, from liability claims related to IRS conservation easement transactions.

Prior to relocating to Alabama, Todd spent his early legal career in the Chicago office of a large international firm, working a niche insurance subrogation practice handling energy sector property loss insurance claims across the country. The vast majority of these cases involved prosecuting highly technical and sophisticated expert-driven product liability claims on behalf of property insurers. As part of this high-pressure practice, Todd was responsible for all phases of litigation from initial claim investigation and inspections through trial. In addition to Alabama, he has litigated, managed, and successfully resolved claims and lawsuits in a vast array of venues in state and federal courts in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah. This practice experience, and his full understanding of the practice nuances, uniquely positions Todd to defend subrogation matters across the country.

Outside the office, Todd and his wife, an elementary school teacher, keep busy raising their young daughter and twin sons.
