Gene Kim is a litigation associate in the Drug and Medical Device, Tort & Product Liability and Commercial Litigation practice groups of Gordon & Rees. Mr. Kim represents multi-national manufacturers and distributors of pharmaceuticals and medical devices in a broad range of complex litigation matters, including product liability and commercial litigation.
Mr. Kim’s product liability practice has focused on various types of products, including numerous different types of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, home appliances, tools, toxic chemicals, optical equipment, heavy-duty construction machines, among others. He has litigated cases concerning these products in single-action cases and class actions in both federal and state courts. All of these cases have encompassed a variety of issues, including federal preemption, Daubert challenges, and complex causation analyses.
Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Mr. Kim worked as an associate at a San Francisco Bay Area-based law firm where he represented plaintiffs in multidistrict antitrust class actions and also represented clients in matters involving complex commercial, and consumer litigation.
Mr. Kim received his law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law, and his bachelor's degree from University of California, San Diego. While attending law school, he served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Lucy Koh of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the Honorable Mary Jo Levinger of the Santa Clara County Superior Court.
