Hieu Tran Williams is a Partner in the Employment Litigation practice group of Gordon & Rees. She regularly defends employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, breach of contract, and wage and hour class action violations. Ms. Williams' employment law experience includes representing organizations, executives, and supervisors from various industries including but not limited to healthcare, education, food and beverage, and non-profit organizations.
Ms. Williams has successfully represented clients in state and federal court, as well as before a number of agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and the Worker’s Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB). Ms. Williams' litigation experience also includes obtaining a unanimous defense verdict for four causes of action after two hours of jury deliberation in Harnett v. Forensic Analytical Sciences, et al. The Daily Journal selected this defense verdict as one of the 10 Top Defense Results of 2014. In 2018, Ms. Williams obtained a favorable jury verdict in Blum v. Palo Alto Medical Foundation, et al. Ms. Williams obtained an award of over $1.2 million in fees and costs against the plaintiff.
In addition to being an experienced litigator, Ms. Williams provides advice and counseling to her clients, which includes drafting employee handbooks, policies and developing best practices, conducting harassment and management training sessions, and performing workplace investigations.
Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Ms. Williams was an associate at a firm specializing in disability discrimination disputes.
