James E. Hawley is an associate in the San Diego office of Gordon & Rees and a member of the firm's Commercial Litigation, Employment, and Real Estate practice groups. James litigates complex commercial, employment, and intellectual property matters for clients in a variety of industries. He provides representation in cases involving contract disputes, business torts, breach of fiduciary duty, eminent domain, HOA litigation, fraud, unfair competition, trademark and copyright infringement, harassment, discrimination, and wage and hour. James has significant experience writing briefs and motions, handling all phases of discovery, and sitting 2nd chair at trial. His experience includes the drafting of several successful dispositive motions, as well as trial and appellate briefs at both the state and federal levels. He has also worked on multiple class-action matters.
James received his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he graduated in the top third of his class. During law school he served as a senior associate of the San Diego Journal of Climate and Energy Law and interned in the legal department for one of the top 15 insurance brokerage firms in the United States, working closely with both the HR and Contracts departments to provide advice and assistance where needed.
