Mr. Nevins is Senior Counsel in the Commercial Litigation Practice Group of Gordon & Rees. He presently represents individuals and businesses, including healthcare professionals, in a myriad of cases involving insurance defense, collections and creditors’ rights, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, medical malpractice, personal injury, products liability, real estate and title disputes, subrogation proceedings, and insurance coverage matters.
Mr. Nevins began his career as an attorney with the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice admitted through the Attorney General’s Honors Program and was assigned to the landmark divestiture lawsuit against AT&T in 1980. He also prosecuted grand jury investigations into highway bid-rigging practices in Arkansas and Texas. Later, Mr. Nevins became an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas in Dallas where he handled criminal appeals and post-conviction proceedings and represented numerous federal agencies, such as the FAA, the United States Bureau of Prisons, the FDA, the EPA, the IRS, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, in a wide panoply of civil cases.
Subsequently, Mr. Nevins entered private practice and has represented individuals and small and large businesses in state and federal courts and before arbitration panels and various government agencies in actions alleging employment discrimination, wrongful termination, disputes under the Americans with Disabilities Act, lender liability, and mortgage fraud and wrongful foreclosure actions. Mr. Nevins also represented the FDIC in numerous cases involving bank receiverships and the resolution of creditor claims. Throughout his career Mr. Nevins has advised businesses on the antitrust laws, the ramifications of the bankruptcy stay, and the investigation of employee wrongdoing and discrimination complaints.
