Jon Yonemitsu is a trial partner in the Southern California offices of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP. He is a member of the firm's Employment Law, Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property and Real Estate practice groups and has extensive trial experience in complex litigation having tried to verdict cases in California state and federal courts. Mr. Yonemitsu has tried cases ranging from wrongful employment discharge to trademark infringement to wrongful death.
Mr. Yonemitsu's employment practice includes defending private and public entities against discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims under Title VII, FEHA, ADA, FMLA, and CFRA. He also defends employers covering class and collective actions under both California state and Federal wage and hour laws and PAGA. Mr. Yonemitsu further advises management with personnel issues, compliance, terminations and disciplinary actions, as well performs investigations and company reviews arising from employee complaints.
Mr. Yonemitsu additionally manages a variety of business litigation matters ranging from individual contract disputes to multi-party claims involving unfair competition and interference, consumer protection, products liability, corporate/partnership disputes and dissolutions. Mr. Yonemitsu also represents both individual and institutional clients in a variety of complex litigation matters, including intellectual property, copyright and trademark infringement and franchising.
Mr. Yonemitsu’s real estate practice includes representation of commercial developers, owners and tenants in all aspects of disputes and litigation concerning commercial properties, including commercial lease defaults, unlawful detainers, bankruptcy-related matters, breaches of guaranty, easements, title and boundary disputes. Mr. Yonemitsu also handles negotiating and preparing commercial leases and property management agreements.
Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Mr. Yonemitsu was a Deputy District Attorney at the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted a variety of felony and misdemeanor trials involving violent crimes and fraud.
