Julie-Karel (JK) Elkin is Senior Counsel in the Nashville office of Gordon & Rees and is a member of the Business Transactions, Commercial Litigation, and Advertising & E-Commerce practice groups. Ms. Elkin is a veteran in the legal industry and business community with a proven track record of providing practical legal counsel to small and mid-size businesses and helping healthcare professionals and practice managers secure their office operations including management training and regulatory compliance with HIPAA and HITECH.

Ms. Elkin takes pride in building true partnerships with her clients, providing them with strategic direction, education, and solutions. She went to law school so you don’t have to! She ran her own small business and serves as fractional general counsel to many other businesses providing what she calls “Executive Legal Ops”. Ms. Elkin strives to be someone her clients can entrust to fight their battles as well as to provide sound business advice when they may not see the entire issue. The right thing to do, she believes, is to provide an honest, thoughtful assessment in all situations. She is not just a consultant, she is boots-on-the-ground when you need business advice.

Ms. Elkin is known as a problem-solver, providing her clients with viable solutions:

  • She can tame the most dysfunctional workforce and has a passion for training successful managers.
  • She is a lawyer who thinks like an entrepreneur and an entrepreneur who thinks like a lawyer.
  • She makes sure her clients are protected and that they understand their rights and responsibilities in the conduct of their businesses and practices while helping them to achieve the dream of business growth and stability.

Having been raised in a family of small business owners, she honed her passion for business management, customer service, and compliance. When not counseling business owners, Ms. Elkin lives on a farm south of Franklin with her husband and three children. They enjoy competitive gymnastics, travel softball, volleyball, and little league.
