Kristin Reyna DeHart is a partner in Gordon & Rees’ San Diego office, and serves as the Assistant Managing Partner of the office. As a member of the Environmental/Toxic Tort practice group, she specializes in the defense of complex environmental claims, toxic tort and product liability claims. She also counsels clients regarding environmental compliance issues outside the litigation context, including regarding property contamination, waste generation, handling and disposal, and recycling/reuse programs. Ms. Reyna DeHart has also represented clients in communications and negotiations, and site investigations and response actions, with Regional Water Quality Control Boards, the Department of Toxic Substances Control and the Environmental Protection Agency. Ms. Reyna DeHart has represented a wide range of entities in her practice including corporations, manufacturers, industrial operations, property owners, insurance companies, municipalities, homeowners’ associations, construction companies and environmental abatement companies. She has handled environmental claims which range from one site to state-wide. The matters which she has handled have dealt with such issues as soil, groundwater, well and sediment contamination by various contaminants, storm water issues, mold contamination, asbestos contamination, crop loss claims, and environmental, occupational and industrial exposures to myriad chemicals and toxic substances. She has also handled a diverse range of product liability matters, and food and water-bourne illness matters.
Ms. Reyna DeHart has both trial and appellate experience with toxic tort/personal injury exposure claims and complex environmental soil, groundwater, sediment and well contamination property damage claims. Both her education and practice have given her significant knowledge of several Federal and California environmental statutes, including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation & Liability Act (CERCLA), the Hazardous Substance Account Act (HSAA/California Superfund), the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Resource, Conservation & Recovery Act (RCRA), the California Land Reuse and Revitalization Act (CLRRA), the Polanco Redevelopment Act, and the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Act.
Ms. Reyna sits on the Steering Committee of the firm-wide Environmental & Toxic Tort practice group and helps lead the Environmental subgroup of this practice. She is also the San Diego office representative to the firm-wide Diversity Committee and active in the firm’s Women’s Intiative.
