Lillian Alves is Of Counsel in the Denver office and Co-Chair of the Government Regulatory & Administrative Law practice group. She represents clients in both civil and criminal matters at all phases of litigation. She also counsels clients facing state and federal grand jury investigations, civil investigative demands, and securities investigations and examinations. Lillian came to GRSM with ten years of government experience as a Colorado state securities regulator, federal prosecutor, and federal agency counsel. During that time, she managed countless government investigations and enforcement actions and represented the government in a variety of litigation, including jury trials. She also drafted regulations and opinion letters.
Lillian has particular experience navigating dual criminal and civil issues and laws such as Trafficking Victims Protection Act defense, RICO, healthcare facility abuse and neglect, state and federal securities laws, and claims involving unwanted sexual contact or assault. She has defended multiple clients in civil litigation during the pendency of government investigations and intense media scrutiny. She is adept at meeting the challenges associated with conducting an effective entity defense when employees or officers face accusations of wrongdoing.
