Marvis A. Barnes, II is an Associate in the Chicago office of Gordon & Rees and is a member of the Commercial Litigation and Environmental/Toxic Tort practice groups. He concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and business disputes. Mr. Barnes’ experience also includes work in the areas of real estate litigation, transactional services, and employment litigation and counseling.
Mr. Barnes has extensive experience representing businesses ranging from sole proprietorships and closely-held corporations to international organizations and Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Barnes has represented clients in state and federal courts, and has represented clients through all stages of the litigation process, including bench and jury trials.

Obtaining summary judgment on behalf of a national financial institution concerning UCC, foreclosure, and forcible entry and detainer issues.
Negotiated with commercial and governmental entities on behalf of a Fortune 500 utility holding company and drafted various lease, assignment, and easement agreements on their behalf.
Successfully obtained dismissal of a breach of contract and fiduciary duty complaint on behalf of an international consumer product manufacturer.
Successfully resolved numerous breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty cases on behalf of real estate holding companies, real estate investors, and condominium associations.
Attained numerous dismissals of personal injury complaints.
