Shameka N. Bloyce is Senior Counsel in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group. She provides advice and counsel on a myriad of U.S. and international employment law matters, including progressive discipline plans, employer-employee relations, harassment, executive compensation plans, and compensation data analysis. She regularly conducts internal investigations and audits pertaining to sexual misconduct, discrimination, and other Title VII violations in an effort to mitigate client risks. She is also responsible for implementing and providing training on company policies and procedures.
She works on a wide range of litigation matters and represents clients in state and federal court, and in matters with agencies such as the Department of Justice, Department of Labor, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She has significant experience defending corporate officers in breach of fiduciary duties and misappropriation cases; she regularly defends employers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, FLSA and FMLA matters. She is also well versed in motion practice and in alternative dispute resolution.
Ms. Bloyce has a background in mediation and arbitration of complex disputes including commercial, employment, director and officers, and trade secret matters. In addition, she also designs and participates in conflict resolution and peer mediation programs.
Before joining Gordon & Rees, Ms. Bloyce specialized in Administrative and Regulatory law. She was responsible for drafting successful legal opinions and providing counsel to the U.S. Postal Regulatory Commission. Prior to entering into the practice of law, Ms. Bloyce worked for a U.S. Senator on Capitol Hill. During this time, she assisted in developing legislation and policy initiatives on current issues.
