AboveTheLaw.com, one of the most popular national websites for original legal news, conducted its second annual law firm holiday e-card contest and Gordon & Rees was recognized in the "Honorable Mentions" category for the second year in a row.  In a nod to the firm's culture, the judges quoted a comment about our card that was submitted during the evaluation process which stated "this one has a humble homemade feel to it" and "is a clever concept that is short, to the point, and draws you in ? without going over the top." The complete quoted comment appears below and can be found on the 2010 competition results website.

Neat, cool, funny, and snazzy are all worthwhile challenges for shaking up the traditionally unadventurous law firm e-card world. You gotta give this firm credit for a clever concept that is short, to the point, and draws you in (and literally shakes!) without going over the top. It's not one of those high-tech cards that are impressive but say "we just spent lots of $$$ on a fancy card that any firm could have put its name on." This one has a humble homemade feel to it.

On December 9, 2010, AboveTheLaw.com also featured the firm's 2010 e-card as the lead graphic in the announcement that launched the 2010 competition. In the announcement, Gordon & Rees is referred to as a "well-regarded California-based Am Law 200 and NLJ 250 firm" and we are complimented for having a "lovely holiday e-card." In addition, comments on The Wall Street Journal's "Law Blog Best Law Firm Holiday Card of 2010" include "Here's a law firm card that delivers the holiday greeting in a completely unexpected way. There are lots of snowglobes out there but nothing like this."

In the 2009 competition, Gordon & Rees's e-card was also prominently featured as the only e-card graphic on the website ballot that was used for the selection of the winner. Our card was one of only four e-cards to receive "Honorable Mention" and we were recognized for creating a card in which "the animation is elegant." Our 2009 e-card can be viewed here.
