DRI profiled Michael Lucey and Marcie Isom's jury defense verdict in the June 13th edition of The Voice, DRI's weekly e-newsletter. Representing Santa Clara University, Michael and Marcie prevailed against the plaintiff, a former lecturer in the Department of Theater and Dance at the University, after nearly 3 weeks of jury trial in Santa Clara Superior Court. The plaintiff had sued for age discrimination and breach of contract, and asked the jury to award more than $2.5 million.
In less than three hours of deliberation, the jury came back with a unanimous defense verdict on the age discrimination claim and a 10-2 decision on the breach of contract claim.
