The American Lawyer has recognized Gordon & Rees as one of the top 10 fastest-growing Am Law 200 law firms in the nation, noting that the firm's attorney headcount grew by nearly 10 percent over the past 12 months. Unlike other law firms on the list that expanded through mergers, Gordon & Rees’s growth occurred organically thanks to the firm’s winning results, exceptional lateral talent and unrelenting responsive client service.
Now approaching the 600-attorney mark, lawyer count has grown by a whopping 127 percent over the past decade, and Gordon & Rees's national platform has exploded. Firmwide managing partner Dion N. Cominos says Gordon & Rees has achieved its long-term goal of becoming a national, full-service firm of the highest rank without merging with a single firm or incurring any long-term debt – “a nearly unheard of accomplishment for a large, Am Law 200 firm of this caliber.”
Name partner Miles D. Scully says Gordon & Rees provides clients with unsurpassed quality and value, strengths that distinguish the firm from its competitors in the U.S. legal services market. “Gordon & Rees’s growth continues because we know how to be cost-effective and responsive and our attorneys deliver results, which is exactly what general counsel want from their outside counsel,” says Scully.
Over the past 10 years, Gordon & Rees has more than doubled in size, adding 26 new offices, with major offices in eight of the 10 largest cities in the United States. The firm's expansion across the country is part of its strategic blueprint to attract outstanding lateral talent and open offices in key locations of importance to clients. Earlier this month, Gordon & Rees opened a new Tampa office – its second in Florida and 32nd overall – and the firm plans to continue expanding in the coming months.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Gordon & Rees is a national litigation and business transactions firm with 32 offices in 20 states. In 2014, The National Law Journal ranked Gordon & Rees 89th on its list of the largest U.S. firms and noted the firm is the second-largest NLJ 350 firm in San Diego and the 13th largest in San Francisco. The American Lawyer also ranked the firm at No. 131 on the Am Law 200 and at No. 26 on its Diversity Scorecard. Gordon & Rees has been recognized on the "BTI Client Service A-Team" survey for the past three years and has been honored as a 2014 "Go-To Law Firm" for Fortune 500 companies as well as selected for inclusion on Corporate Counsel magazine's 2014 "Who Represents America's Biggest Companies" list.
