Gordon & Rees Adds Three Partners to New Boston Office

Gordon & Rees LLP has expanded its Boston office, which opened in May 2015, with the addition of a three partner group from LeClairRyan.  Jay S. Gregory, James L. Messenger, and Margaret R. Stolfa joined the firm on July 1, 2015.

"These are exciting times,” John J. Robinson, managing partner of the firm’s Boston office noted.  “We not only have an outstanding group of lawyers joining us, but also an outstanding group of people.  Building on our recent opening of the Boston office, this group strengthens and broadens the foundation from which we can meet the desired needs of our many great clients.”

Firmwide Managing Partner, Dion N. Cominos added, “We are thrilled to build upon our existing base in Boston with these outstanding practitioners.  We look forward to developing the countless synergies that exist between their practices and the firm’s core service offerings.”

Gregory focuses his practice on construction defect litigation and the defense of malpractice actions brought against professionals, including architects, engineers, surveyors, real estate brokers, appraisers and attorneys.

Messenger’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in areas such as intellectual property, business transactions, shareholder disputes and breach of fiduciary duty claims, environmental and bankruptcy matters. He regularly acts as lead outside counsel to energy and utility companies on infrastructure projects.

Stolfa, the former General Counsel of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, focuses her practice on environmental law, regulation and policy development. She represents clients in administrative matters including regulatory interpretation and compliance, strategic permitting and licensing, enforcement and adjudication.

Gordon & Rees’s expansion across the country is part of its long-term plan to open offices in strategic locations of importance to clients.  Since 2000, Gordon & Rees has more than tripled in size, adding nearly 30 offices, and has a major office in eight of the 10 largest cities in the United States.  In the last two years alone, Gordon & Rees opened eight new offices: Birmingham, Ala.; Boston, Mass.; Charleston, S.C.; Harrisburg, Pa.; Oakland, Calif.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Raleigh, N.C.; and Tampa, Fla.
