In the just-released NLJ 500, National Law Journal's annual survey of the world's largest law firms (by headcount), Gordon & Rees logs in at 75, which is up eight spots from the 2015 ranking of 83. Since the firm first appeared on the survey in 2013 at 186, it has steadily advanced more than 100 spots and has consistently been recognized among the fastest growing law firms in the nation. The firm also ranked 46 on the NLJ Women in Law Scorecard which ranks 250 firms by the percentage of female lawyers in their partnership.
Gordon & Rees's strong year also manifested itself in its ranking on The American Lawyer's Am Law 200 list of the nation's top-grossing firms, moving up 12 spots to 114 from 126 in 2015. The firm also ranked 16 for diversity among partnerships and 39 in the Diversity Scorecard. During the past 10 years, the firm has climbed more than 50 spots in the Am Law 200 and nearly 100 on the Diversity Scorecard. All four surveys were released within the past month.

In the past 10 years, lawyer count at the firm has increased by more than 230 percent, the number of offices has grown to 38, and the firm's national, regional, and local practices have quadrupled-all without merging with other firms or incurring any long-term debt.

This year's NLJ 500 is the inaugural list, expanded from the previous annual NLJ 350. This year's list includes an additional 150 midsized law firms across the country, thus increasing the competition for ranking. A firm must have more lawyers based in the U.S. than in any other single country to be included on this list.
