Gordon & Rees Elevates Heather Gwinn Pabon to Partner in Denver Office

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani has elevated Heather Gwinn Pabon to partner in the Denver office. Gwinn Pabon is a member of the firm's Employment, Healthcare, and Professional Liability practice groups. Her practice involves defending small and medium-sized businesses and Fortune 500 companies in tort and employment law litigation.

Gwinn Pabon routinely defends physicians, assisted living and nursing home clients, hospitals, and other health care providers against a variety of claims, including malpractice and negligence, violations of the Colorado Consumer Protection Act, and various common law actions. As a former certified nurse’s aide in a long-term care facility and a direct care provider in a residential behavioral health facility and at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, she has experience and knowledge of the healthcare system that uniquely qualifies her to advise and defend healthcare providers.

Gwinn Pabon regularly counsels clients regarding and successfully defends clients against Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Fair Labor Standards Act claims. She also has extensive experience investigating claims of discrimination, workplace misconduct, and retaliation and drafting position statements and other responses to requests by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the state equivalents. She serves as outside general employment counsel for several clients where she advises on numerous labor and employment issues, including the creation and implementation of employment handbooks and policies, engagement of independent contractors, compliance with wage and hour laws and state and federal statutes regarding family and other leave, the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements and defense against unfair labor practice claims, and the gamut of general employee-employer relations.

Gwinn Pabon is admitted to practice in Colorado, Tennessee, and Florida. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, and Denver Bar Association. She is a LTC Power Lawyers graduate of the Class of 2017 and has received Colorado Law & Politics' Rising Stars® distinction in the fields of Health Care and Employment Litigation: Defense (2011-2017) and Florida Law & Politics' Rising Stars® in the fields of Employment and Labor (2010).

Gwinn Pabon received her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and her undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University. During law school, she served as the Symposium Editor for the Denver University Law Review, President of the Student Bar Association, and was a member of the Moot Court Board.

In addition to her law practice, Gwinn Pabon has served as a Guardian ad Litem for more than 400 at-risk children in the states of Colorado and Florida. She also has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Colorado.
