Gordon & Rees Welcomes Thirteen New Attorneys in April 2018

In April, Gordon & Rees welcomed thirteen new attorneys to our Birmingham, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Louisville, New York, Oakland, San Diego, and San Francisco offices. They join us as members of the Commercial Litigation, Construction, Employment, and Environmental/Toxic Tort Practice Groups.

Cydney Barnes, Associate
Birmingham, Employment

Cydney joins the Birmingham office as a member of the Employment practice group. Her employment practice focuses on defending employers against claims of discrimination, wage-and-hour claims, and disability claims. Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Cydney practiced law in the Architects and Engineers Litigation group of a mid-sized insurance defense law firm with offices in Alabama and Florida. She represented architects, engineers, design builders, and general contractors in a variety of commercial, government, and residential projects across the Southeast. Cydney earned her J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University and her B.A. from Dalton State College.


John "Chip" Clay, Associate
Louisville, Construction

Chip joins the Louisville office as a member of the Construction practice group. Chip earned his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law and his B.S. from the Civil Engineering University of Kentucky.


David Erhart, Associate
Louisville, Construction

David joins the Louisville office as a member of the Construction practice group. Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, David served as a law clerk for Deputy Chief Justice Lisabeth T. Hughes of the Supreme Court of Kentucky. He gained experience drafting legal opinions for matters pending before the Court including discretionary review, matters of right, writs, interlocutory actions, and attorney discipline. David earned his J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and his B.A. from the College of William and Mary.


David Freed, Associate
New York, Environmental/Toxic Tort

David joins the New York office as a member of the Environmental/Toxic Tort practice group. His practice focuses on products liability, toxic tort and complex commercial litigation in both state and federal courts. David earned his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Rochester.


Michelle Freeman, Associate
San Francisco, Employment

Michelle joins the San Francisco office as a member of the Employment practice group. Michelle earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and her B.A. from California State University, Fullerton.


Jamie Gross, Associate
San Diego, Environmental/Toxic Tort

Jamie joins the San Diego office as a member of the Environmental/Toxic Tort practice group. Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Jamie represented clients involving employment, elder abuse, and commercial litigation matters in San Diego County, Los Angeles County, and San Bernardino County. Jamie earned her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Maryland.


Robert Johnson, Partner
Chicago, Commercial Litigation

Robert joins the Chicago office as a member of the Commercial Litigation practice group. He advises and provides management and consulting services to corporate departments. He has over 20 years’ experience advising a wide range of entities on risk assessment and reduction. As a complement to his legal and business experience, Robert regularly advises on issues addressing diversity and social responsibility. He has practiced in the areas of commercial litigation, products liability, real estate law and contract negotiations. Robert earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law and his B.S. from Knox College.


Lynne McChrystal, Associate
Las Vegas, Commercial Litigation

Lynne joins the Las Vegas office as a member of the Commercial Litigation practice group. In addition to her work at Gordon & Rees, Lynne serves as Judge Advocate in the Army National Guard where she advises command on administrative law, fiscal law, labor law, and ethics and training issues. Lynne earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.


Diba Rastegar, Senior Counsel
Los Angeles, Employment

Diba joins the Los Angeles office as a member of the Employment practice group. She has experience litigating a wide array of labor and employment cases in state and federal courts. She has successfully represented employers in matters ranging from single plaintiff lawsuits to wage and hour class actions. Her litigation experience includes numerous successful summary judgment motions and defeating class certification actions. Diba earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.


Taylor Real, Associate
Chicago, Environmental/Toxic Tort

Taylor joins the Chicago office as a member of the Environmental/Toxic Tort practice group. Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Taylor practiced family law at a mid-sized regional law firm in Illinois. She gained experience representing clients in dissolution of marriage proceedings, paternity proceedings, prenuptial agreement negotiations, and civil litigation related to orders of protection. Taylor earned her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Missouri – Columbia.


William Richards, Associate
San Diego, Employment

William joins the San Diego office as a member of the Employment practice group. He has successfully represented clients in state and federal court, binding arbitration, and administrative proceedings (i.e., Labor Commissioner), with experience handling individual cases, complex class actions, and representative actions (i.e., under PAGA). William earned his J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law and his B.S. from San Diego State University.


Suzanne Stafford, Associate
San Francisco, Construction

Suzanne joins the San Francisco office as a member of the Construction practice group. Her practice focuses on the defense of general contractors and developers in a variety of litigation and transactional matters. Suzanne earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law and her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.


Diego Wu Min, Associate
Oakland, Environmental/Toxic Tort

Diego joins the Oakland office as a member of the Environmental/Toxic Tort practice group. Diego earned his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and his B.S. from The Pennsylvania State University.
