Partner Travis Jang-Busby Named San Diego Business Journal’s Next Top Business Leaders Under 40 Finalist

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani partner Travis K. Jang-Busby has been recognized as a finalist in the San Diego Business Journal's Next Top Business Leaders Under 40 Awards. This award recognizes the next generation of key executives and entrepreneurs under 40 years old who are making waves, creating impact and leaving a positive mark on the San Diego community.

"Travis is an outstanding attorney and has an amazing work ethic," said Kevin Alexander, San Diego Office Managing Partner. "He manages his cases with an acute attention to detail and provides his clients with an exceptionally high level of service. We are very proud of Travis' work in the firm and his dedication to community causes."

Each year hundreds of nominations are submitted to the Next Top Leaders Under 40 Awards and only 150 are selected as finalists by a panel of independent judges. The 2019 finalists will be honored at a reception and awards presentation on August 28 at the Natural History Museum in San Diego.

"I am honored to be recognized as a finalist," said Travis Jang-Busby. "I am proud to represent Gordon & Rees, a firm that values and supports the career progression of its attorneys and the impact they have on the community in which they live and work."

Among Jang-Busby's outstanding accomplishment in 2019 is his work on filing one of the first motions to strike a Private Attorneys General (PAGA) claim, in high-stakes multi-million-dollar litigation dating back to 2012. This case could lead to groundbreaking legal precedent allowing employers to strike claims that allow employees to bring class action-like lawsuits despite executing arbitration agreements prohibiting such. Such suits are plaguing San Diego businesses large and small.

Outside the courtroom, Jang-Busby sits on the Finance and Governance Committee of RISE San Diego, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering opportunities and leadership skills for underrepresented youth. He is also a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Division.

Travis K. Jang-Busby is a partner in the Southern California offices of Gordon & Rees. Jang-Busby represents businesses and management in employment and labor disputes. He is an experienced litigator in the areas of labor, employment, and business law. He works extensively in wage-hour class action litigation on both a state-wide and national basis, representative wage-hour litigation under the Private Attorneys General Act, discrimination litigation, administrative investigations, and preventative counseling. He has varied and extensive experience in all phases of litigation and handles client matters from inception through trial. Jang-Busby was named a California “Rising Star,” an exclusive award given to no more than 2.5 percent of California attorneys under 40 and practicing less than 10 years.
