Mercedes Colwin and Elizabeth Lorell presented "Sex, Lies and Videotape: Cyber Liability Issues in a Digital World" at the July 2010 Annual Conference of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel. They also authored a report on the same topic for the Annual Conference.
The report addresses the first impression legal issues in state and federal courts that are being created by the explosive growth of social networking sites and computer-based platforms people use to express their opinions and to communicate with each other. The report also identifies a variety of cyberspace-based platforms and how they can bring unwanted attention to a law firm and to clients. The article concludes with a set of “best practices” to help practitioners and clients navigate the pitfalls that often dot the terrain in cyberspace.
