Pittsburgh Partner Litigates Tax Assessment Matter Saving Client $1,000,000 in Tax Dollars

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Pittsburgh partner William Bresnahan II prevailed in litigatating a real estate tax assessment matter which resulted in saving $1,000,000 in actual tax dollars for the firm's client, an International Fortune 50 Company for its North American Corporate Headquarters outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The taxing bodies were seeking to increase the assessed value to $123,000,000 for tax years 2016 and 2017 ($246,000,000 total).  This value was based on construction costs associated with the building of new facilities and financing documents filed of record. The property owner, through its expert appraiser, presented testimony that the value should be $64,600,000 for tax year 2016 and $77,000,000 for tax year 2017.  The verdict came in at $74,700,000 for tax year 2016 and $83,933,085 for 2017.
