Health Care Regulatory and Transactional Practice Group Successfully Manages Multi-State Change of Ownership for National Nursing Home Chain

Gordon & Rees Denver Partner Peggy Kozal and Raleigh senior counsel Justin Puleo (co-chairs of the Health Care Regulatory and Transactional Practice Group) recently completed a long term multi-state change of ownership project on behalf of a national nursing home chain which boasts hundreds of senior living communities in a majority of states.

The project involved constant communications with the client, other law firms, regulators, state agencies, and insurance payors to secure a seamless transition for the Client’s internal reorganization, all while ensuring no interruption in revenue to the actual facilities.

The team timely secured new licenses, new Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollments, and new ancillary permits for the firm's client, in addition to assisting with overall deal structure and mechanics and a host of other regulatory and logistical questions during the 5+ month process. Cheyenne senior counsel Christine Stickley, and many other staff contributed greatly to the effort.
