Biography

Megumi Horiuchi focuses on civil litigation matters.  She defends clients against claims involving property development, construction, transportation and trucking, product liability, toxic tort, breach of contract, and general liability.  Her construction litigation practice includes representation of builders, developers, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and manufacturers in commercial and residential high-rise, mid-rise, and conversion projects.

Megumi has particular expertise in serving transportation and trucking industry clients involving catastrophic personal injury claims, wrongful death claims, contribution and indemnity matters, regulatory matters, product and manufacturing claims, and first-party and third-party claims for a leading rideshare company.

Megumi’s construction risk management practice involves advising a national brokerage firm client on owner-controlled insurance programs (OCIPs), contractor-controlled insurance programs (CCIPs), indemnity and risk transfer issues, and construction contract drafting regarding large-scale public, commercial, and residential projects throughout the United States.

Megumi earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 2004, where she was the senior note and comment editor for the school’s International & Comparative Law Review.  In 2000, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from UCLA.  Megumi keeps herself informed about emerging trends in construction law and commercial litigation through professional affiliations with the Women’s Construction Litigation Alliance and the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance.
