Nellie Gomez is Senior Counsel in the firm’s Houston office. Nellie is a seasoned litigation attorney with more than 25 years of experience. Since 2006, she has held board certification in Labor and Employment Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Nellie specializes in representing employers in labor and employment cases in both Texas state and federal courts. She also handles employer defense in arbitration and administrative proceedings.
Nellie defends employers against various claims, including workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. She is well-versed in handling cases related to ADA, FLSA, FMLA, and class actions.
Nellie provides preventative counseling to employers including drafting and auditing employee handbooks, preparing employment and severance agreements, conducting workplace investigations, and evaluating termination decisions.
In addition to employment law, Nellie has experience in commercial and consumer litigation, covering contract negotiation, securities and shareholder rights, officer and director liability, FINRA cases, and matters involving fraud and breach of fiduciary duty.
Nellie is fluent in Spanish.
