Seattle Co-Managing Partner Sarah Turner to Deliver Cannabis Litigation Presentation for Montana Defense Trial Lawyers Seminar

Seattle Co-Managing Partner Sarah Turner will be delivering a presentation entitled "In the Defense of Cannabis: Cannabis Legalization and the Fast-Growing Trend of National and State-Wide Cannabis-Related Litigation" for the 2023 Montana Defense Trial Lawyers Annual CLE Seminar in Missoula, Montana on November 17, 2023. 

Ms. Turner will cover the current status of the national legalization of cannabis for adult and medicinal use and emerging trends in cannabis litigation. She will focus on the increase in commercial litigation; challenges to state and local government cannabis laws; challenges to states' requirements that prohibit non-residents from participating in the cannabis market and whether these requirements are a violation of the Dormant Commerce Clause; employment issues surrounding accommodation, off-duty use, and drug testing; trademark infringement actions filed by candy industry against cannabis companies; environmental issues surrounding cannabis farms; product liability claims related to vapes and edibles; and false advertisement actions related to falsely labeling THC amounts.  

Ms. Turner is a Co-Managing Partner of the firm's Seattle office and one of the national leaders of the Cannabis, Hemp & CBD practice group. She is active in educating attorneys, employers, and others affected by the legalization of cannabis. This includes providing guidance on state regulations, and laws affecting the employer’s workplace drug policies and drafting drug and alcohol policies and testing guidelines. Ms. Turner also represents businesses and individuals in cannabis-related employment matters and contract and partnership disputes.
