Gordon & Rees lawyers and staff have a strong commitment to supporting the communities in which they work and live. Members of the firm are encouraged to participate in charitable, educational, and professional activities.
The firm has been a long-time supporter of the United Way in San Francisco, and has been a multi-year winner of the United Way’s Koko Award, presented to the law firm which raises the largest contribution. Additionally, several San Francisco lawyers, including firm founder Stuart Gordon, have served on the organization’s Board of Directors. Other offices have similar initiatives with charitable organizations including Make-A-Wish, Toys for Tots, Meals on Wheels, and Ronald McDonald House.
The firm’s offices develop local fundraising and volunteer efforts for the staff and lawyers including drives for Kids in Need, 5K races, Adopt-A-Family for the holidays, Seniors-in-Need, the American Hearty Society, and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Gordon & Rees lawyers have also taken leadership positions with organizations throughout the country including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Atlanta, Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, the Lupus Foundation of America, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the San Diego Opera and Pittsburgh Opera, and the YMCA in New York.
Firm lawyers also contribute numerous hours annually to pro bono efforts. Through our pro bono services, our lawyers are able to respond to the evolving needs of individuals and local community organizations that help those who are in greatest need of assistance. The lives of the needy vary greatly and so does the scope of our pro bono services.
